BOTITO Eco Guardian
BOTITO Eco Guardián is a toy robot assembled with discarded plastic caps and containers joined by elastic cords, that teaches children that discarded materials can have a second life with purpose. The project was born from the dream of José María Rodríguez and Daniela Czajkowski, environmentalists from Santa Fe, Argentina, who sought to transform tons of plastic waste into a powerful pedagogical tool.
The challenge of this project isn’t just technical, it’s cultural. Progress demands a paradigm shift in how we consume, use, and discard packaging. And this transformation requires environmental education that starts at an early age. BOTITO seeks to awaken that ecological awareness and teach children that what’s considered useless can have a new purpose.
The new sustainable packaging design for retail embodies the BOTITO spirit by integrating circularity into both form and function. Inspired by a trash bin, it uses 100% recycled paper pulp, transforming discarded materials into a fully recyclable and compostable solution.
The manufacturing process includes 3D-printed molds that optimize material usage, biodegradable water-based inks, and a recyclable cardboard sleeve. Low-energy production minimizes environmental impact. The uncoated pulp finish showcases the raw material, demonstrating that sustainability can be both conscious and playful.
The result is a showcase of meta-packaging in action: the protective packaging transforms into a vehicle for an educational message about circular economy.
