Steep & Stir – Sensory Tea Packaging

The Brief

The brief was to develop a contemporary tea brand and packaging system that could feel premium and distinctive while still respecting the heritage and ritual of tea. The challenge was to move beyond the expected visual language of traditional tea packaging and create something that felt relevant to a modern audience without losing its connection to the craft and culture surrounding tea.

The Idea

The concept came from looking at tea as more than a beverage, but as a moment in time. There is something almost atmospheric about the process—the movement of the leaves as they steep, the aroma gradually filling the space, and the quiet pause while waiting for the tea to become ready. This feeling of time becoming slower and slightly hazy became the foundation for Steep & Stir’s visual direction.

Rather than illustrating the idea literally, the packaging uses fluid compositions, softened imagery and layered elements to create a sense of movement and atmosphere. The botanical illustrations reference the flowers and leaves found within the blends, grounding the more abstract visual language in the ingredients themselves.

Material & Style

The earthy palette takes cues from the natural tones of tea and its botanical ingredients, creating a warm foundation while avoiding the overly traditional look often associated with tea packaging. A more contemporary typographic treatment brings clarity and refinement, balancing the organic visual elements with a structured modern identity.

Textures were introduced to give the packaging a tactile, almost material quality, reinforcing the connection to nature and the physical ritual of preparing tea. Together, the colour, typography, illustration and texture create a visual language that feels modern and considered while remaining grounded in the long-standing art of tea.
