Packaging design for Turkish delight “Sweet Routes of Dagestan”
Designing gift packaging for the traditional Eastern delicacy, Turkish delight. The main idea was to transform an ordinary box of sweets into a fully-fledged tourist souvenir that showcases the region’s most beautiful sights.
The packaging features a unique hexagonal shape, visually referencing Eastern geometry. The central element of the composition is a decorative die-cut window in the form of a traditional ornament. Visible through it are brightly colored cubes of Turkish delight, seamlessly blending into the overall illustration. A delicate ethnic pattern runs along the perimeter of the box.
The line consists of three SKUs, each dedicated to an iconic location in Dagestan:
Gamsutl. The packaging is designed in noble stone-gray tones. The illustration conveys the spirit of an ancient high-mountain ghost village surrounded by rugged cliffs.
Derbent. Warm terracotta and brown tones. The design highlights the historical heritage, the monumentality of the ancient fortress, and the southern sun.
Sulak Canyon. Rich emerald and turquoise colors. The visuals reflect the scale of the majestic mountains and the famous azure water of Europe’s deepest canyon.
Result:
The result is a cohesive, aesthetically pleasing, and attractive line. The division by color and location evokes the desire to collect the entire “collection” of routes, and the combination of picturesque landscapes and the appetizing appearance of the product inside the window makes the packaging the perfect travel gift.
