Ania Épices — Premium Algerian Spice packaging design Collection
THE BRAND
Ania Épices is a natural spice brand, proudly made in Algeria and distributed across the French market. Built on a promise of purity, the brand offers a curated selection of 10 premium spices — 100% natural, with no additives or preservatives.
THE BRIEF
Design a complete packaging system for the entire collection that feels luxurious yet playful, unified under one strong brand identity, while allowing each spice to express its own unique character.
THE CHALLENGE
How do you translate the authentic aroma and personality of each spice into a silent visual dialogue on crowded French supermarket shelves? The goal was to create packaging that is premium, honest, and instantly recognizable — bridging Algerian heritage with modern French retail aesthetics.
THE CONCEPT — A Three-Zone Visual System
The packaging structure is built on three integrated zones, each with a distinct functional role:
1. THE TOP — Luxury Black Canvas
A matte black background acts as a premium showcase, letting delicate botanical illustrations breathe. The brand logo sits at the center, with the spice name written in both French and Arabic — celebrating the brand’s dual cultural identity.
2. THE WINDOW — Form Meets Function
A transparent window shaped like the brand’s signature emblem sits between the two zones. It separates the luxury identity from the flavor zone, while letting shoppers see the actual product inside — building trust through transparency.
3. THE BOTTOM — Flavor at First Glance
A bold color block matches the exact shade of the ground spice inside. This creates an immediate sensory cue: shoppers see the flavor before they open the pouch.
THE BOTANICAL STORY
Instead of stock imagery, each pouch features hand-drawn line art illustrations showing the spice in its natural form — roots, seeds, leaves, flowers, or fruit. This introduces the consumer to the source of the flavor and gives the design a soulful, artisanal character.
STRATEGIC EXCEPTIONS
Two products intentionally break the color-matching rule:
• Épice Poulet (Chicken Spice) → Silver, inspired by
aluminum foil and the world of poultry preparation.
• Cumin → Green, deliberately chosen to stand out from
the brown-toned spices and avoid shelf confusion.
THE COLLECTION (10 Products)
Ras El Hanout • Gingembre • Cumin • Cannelle • Poivron Noir • Curcuma
• Épice Poulet • Paprika • Coriandre Moulu • Carvi
THE RESULT
A cohesive collection with a powerful shelf presence — where every pouch tells its own story while remaining unmistakably part of the Ania family. A packaging system designed to travel proudly from Algerian kitchens to French tables.
